The Common Wadden Sea Secretariat (CWSS) used the opportunity of COP23 and organized a side event titled “Collaboration in Climate Change Adaption and Mitigation” on 7 November 2017 at the conference grounds.

On 22 October 1997, at the 8^th Ministerial Conference in Stade, Germany, the three Wadden Sea States Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands adopted the Wadden Sea Plan, the common policy and management plan for the protection and sustainable management of the Wadden Sea Area.

In cooperation with the Task Group Climate of the Wadden Sea Board, the EU Interreg NSR project “Building with Nature” held a two-day workshop on best practices beyond the region in climate change adaptation.

On 16 June 2017, the three national delegations as well as advisors from the NGO Waddenvereniging and the Wadden Sea Forum met at the city hall of Harlingen, Netherlands, for the 20th meeting of the Wadden Sea Board (WSB 20).

The City of Wilhelmshaven as awarding authority has made the requisite documents for the architectural competition for the new building for the Trilateral Wadden Sea Cooperation available on its website. A preliminary EU-wide application procedure has started to select 12 participants (architects in cooperation with landscape architects).

On 26 - 27 September 2017 a workshop on "Best practices of Climate Change Adaption in the Wadden Sea Region" will be held in Wilhelmshaven.

The children will launch the pledge in front of over 40 Heads of State at the United Nations General Assembly on World Oceans Day.

In the margins of the 14th ISWSS in Tønder, a Korean delegation and the Trilateral Wadden Sea Cooperation discussed further activities in the framework of their Memorandum of Understanding.

From 8 to 11 May 2017, over 130 experts on the Wadden Sea met in Tønder at the 14th International Scientific Wadden Sea Symposium (ISWSS).

10 May is World Migratory Bird Day. The celebration initiated by AEWA and CMS raises awareness of the need for the conservation of migratory birds and their habitats.

130 scientists will meet at the 14th International Scientific Wadden Sea Symposium from the 9-11 May 2017 in Tønder, Denmark.
