How does preserving the Outstanding Universal Value of the Wadden Sea contribute to the greenhouse gas reduction targets of the European Union?

The Netherlands and Germany have invested 15 million euros in five research projects that will study the relation between sediment, ecology, human co-use, flood safety and effective protection and management in the Wadden Sea.

The educational programme offers an in-depth exploration of ecology, nature conservation, sustainable development, and management, specifically centered around the unique ecological context of the Wadden Sea.

During the meeting, participants conducted a baseline assessment for pilot sites, identifying key themes for ongoing discussions.

The DARKER SKY project partners gathered on 12 and 13 March for the second partner meeting hosted by the University of Groningen.

As a next step towards a Trilateral Wadden Youth Network, the Wadden Sea Youth Weekend will be held on 9 to 12 May 2024 on Schiermonnikoog (NL).

In October 2023, the three-year Interreg project VaBene was launched with the goal of developing sustainable experience programmes.

On 25 January 2024, more than two hundred stakeholders of the Dutch Wadden Sea region came together for a day full of inspiration and networking at the Wadden Festival.
