Workshop report: Protecting breeding birds in the Wadden Sea – Navigating the challenges of predation management on Wadden Sea islands

The workshop “Protecting birds in the Wadden Sea: Navigating opportunities and constraints of predation management on Wadden Sea islands”, held on 9-10 September 2025, was organised by the Common Wadden Sea Secretariat (CWSS) and experts from the trilateral Expert Group Breeding Birds to assess the current status of predation management in the three Wadden Sea countries, exchange information on the latest developments in predation monitoring and management and to discuss opportunities and challenges emerging for managing breeding success on Wadden Sea islands. Over 50 participants from Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, and the UK participated in the workshop.
